I’m Liina Vettik, an entrepreneurship coach dedicated to helping women entrepreneurs just like you grow their businesses into self-managing companies. Today, I want to share why so many of us feel “stuck” at a certain level, despite knowing what to do. This time of year, as we reflect on our progress and dream big for the next year, let’s dive into what’s really holding us back—and how we can finally break free.

Why Are You Stuck? It’s Not About Knowledge

You’ve read the books, taken the courses, worked on your mindset, and maybe even tackled your fear of rejection. So why do you still feel like your business isn’t reaching its full potential? The answer lies not in what you know, but in what you believe.

It’s common to have knowledge gaps early in our entrepreneurial journey, but for most, the real obstacles are deep-rooted limiting beliefs. Our mindset and subconscious fears can act as powerful roadblocks, keeping us from achieving the success we desire. And while you may have already done some inner work, unresolved subconscious beliefs can still sneak in, causing self-sabotage and holding you back.

Identifying Your Triggers: Your Blueprint for Growth

Every time you feel triggered—whether it’s doubting your worth, fearing rejection, or holding back from going “all in”—take it as a signal. Triggers are your personal blueprint for growth. They’re not there to make you feel small or weak; they’re there to shine a light on areas where you need to build resilience and let go of limiting beliefs.

Common Limiting Beliefs that Hold Us Back
  1. Fear of Not Being “Good Enough”
Many women wonder, “Do people really want what I have to offer?” We often start our businesses with these doubts, but they can linger at every stage. If your focus is constantly on seeking approval or validation, it’s a sign to work on self-worth. The truth is, there’s someone out there who needs what you provide—even if it’s just one person. By sharing your unique message and serving even a single person, you’re already making an impact.
  2. Fear of Losing Control
As your business grows, you may feel a deep-seated fear of losing control—whether it’s of time, energy, or even the business itself. Many women entrepreneurs hold back from scaling because they fear their business will consume their lives, leading to burnout. This fear can cause you to unconsciously limit your own growth, like choosing not to hire, delegate, or trust others with important tasks.
  3. Fear of Becoming “Unnecessary”
Believe it or not, some of us fear success itself. As your business flourishes, the idea that it could thrive without your direct involvement might be unsettling. Deep down, you may feel that if your business doesn’t need you as much, you won’t have a purpose or role. This can lead to micromanaging and blocking growth.
Stop Self-Sabotage: Recognize and Reframe

Self-sabotage often looks like procrastination, over-scheduling, or indulging in unhealthy habits. These behaviors can mask deeper fears, making them harder to recognize. For some, self-sabotage shows up in food cravings or increased stress; for others, it’s obsessively overworking or distracting themselves with busywork.

When you notice these patterns, ask yourself: What am I afraid of? What belief am I holding onto that’s keeping me from growth? By bringing these subconscious fears to light, you begin to dismantle their power over you.

Breaking Through: The Levels of Business Growth

In my mentorship program, we explore six levels of business growth. At each level, new fears arise, and working through them is essential for leveling up. Let’s explore the journey:

  1. Building Self-Worth and Confidence
If you’re just starting out, it’s all about believing in yourself and your value. Here, we focus on building self-worth and confidence so you can put yourself out there without hesitation.
  2. Developing Consistency and Discipline
Once you’ve overcome initial fears, the next step is showing up consistently. Discipline is key here, allowing you to grow trust with your audience and your business.
  3. Mastering Leadership
As your business scales, new fears emerge: “Am I a good enough leader? Can I guide my team effectively?” It’s about learning to lead with both strength and compassion.
  4. Letting Go of Control
At a certain point, you must trust your team and systems to keep things running smoothly. Letting go is essential if you want to experience true business freedom.
  5. Finding New Purpose
As your business becomes more self-sustaining, you may wonder, “What’s next for me?” Redefining your purpose and vision will allow you to keep growing personally and professionally.
  6. Embracing Business Freedom
At this stage, you’ve built a self-managing company that supports your lifestyle. Now, your focus shifts to scaling with impact, knowing that you’ve overcome the subconscious barriers holding you back.
